If you are planning on driving the North Cascade Highway (SR20), don't forget your camera. Though there is still snow at the highest passes (not on the road), the lower levels around Diable Dam & Ross Lake are well into Spring. Over the next few weeks, once you arrive in the Methow Valley the hillsides will be covered in Sun flowers and lush green bunch grass. The Valley trails including the Patterson Lake trails are laden with blooming and fragrant Lupin, Sun flowers, choke cherry and Service berry. Spring is a wonderful time to visit Winthrop.

Runners, the next trail race is just around the corner, Winthrop Marathon and Half Marathon on June 9th
